Note: The first time you run Go-Global from your MS Windows, you must be logged in as system administrator or have the computer permissions of the system administrators group.
Our checks were conducted on MS Windows 2000 and Win XP (sp1 and sp2)
operating systems, with firewall security level set to "Medium".
To install and use Go-Global in MS Internet Explorer, proceed as follows:
- Go to:
http://www.technion.ac.il/GG
You may get the following Security Warning: "Do you want to install and run http://www.technion.ac.il/GG/plugin.cab?"
Click the "Yes" button.
The first time you do that, a dialog box will open. You will be asked: "Do you want to install this software?"
Click "Install".
The "Connection" dialog box will open. -- Click "Cancel".
Go-Global works with SSL (Secure Socket Layer), a security protocol that provides communication privacy over the Internet. For that, please change the default preferences as follows:- In the "Go-Global UX window" choose menu Option -> Preferences
- In the "Transport:" drop-down list - choose "Secure Socket" -> Save
- Please connect (again). In the connection dialog box type: techunix.technion.ac.il or another computer name.
- An Authentication window will open. Provide your username and
password.
The "GO-Global UX" desktop window will open.
- To launch an application, double click on the specific icon. If there is no ready-to-click icon, please double click either on the "Xterm" or on the "CDE" or "KDE" icon to open a session.
